To go along with the release of Coach Liam Flynn’s “Advanced Defensive Tactics” video on SGTV, we re-posted our podcast conversation with him from early in 2021 in which we discussed many of the topics included in the video. Coach Flynn’s podcast was one of the most popular and downloaded episodes of 2021 as we dove into a variety of topics including:
- Critical Communication: Coach Flynn discusses how coaches can have tough but important conversations with their staff and players throughout a season and ways to pick up on what problems need the most focus.
- Teaching “Split Cuts”: We dive into how Coach Flynn teaches players to read and react when playing through “Split Cuts”. A great segment on how to build these cuts into any offense.
- Advanced Defensive Concepts: Coach Flynn talks about a number of defensive concepts, including playing “higher in the gaps” as an overall philosophy. This segment nicely pairs with Coach Flynn’s video out on SGTV today.
- “Start, Sub, or Sit?!”: This was the very first episode in which we tried out the “Start, Sub, or Sit!?” segment and Coach Flynn couldn’t have been a better guest in which to test out our now favorite segment with. We dive into a number of fun subjects here including International basketball, screening, deep sweeps, scouting reports, and German beer.
