About Slappin' Glass

Why we started Slappin’ Glass

Over the past few years there has been an explosion of basketball content available worldwide. Podcasts, newsletters, clinics, blogs, Twitter posts, YouTube videos, and more, the amount is tremendous. While the explosion of content is incredible, the challenge comes in aggregating the best information into a single, trusted place.

We aim to create this trusted learning and development ecosystem, that serves a worldwide community of basketball coaches, players, and leaders.

Slappin' Glass Heads

Our Mission

Our mission is to connect coaches to the best topics in the world of basketball, leadership, and high performance to stimulate their development – and to have some fun in the process.

We aim to do three things extraordinarily well:

1) Create high quality basketball content

2) Make that content easily digestible and learnable

3) Build tools that help connect coaches to that content

Our Principles

There are a few principles we believe in as we build Slappin’ Glass:

The power of conversation

We believe insightful conversations with the best coaches, players, and leaders is one of the most impactful ways to stimulate learning. These conversations lend powerful insights into how the best in the world apply their craft.

The power of deep, focused learning

We believe in taking the time to thoroughly explore and explain the intricate details of basketball strategy, decision making, and concepts. To uncover the game within the game and make it easily digestible for a deeper understanding.

The Power of Community

As the African Proverb says, “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” We believe in community. A group that is eager to grow and share with each other can provide positive compounding effects for all those involved.

How It Started

Formed in the spring of 2020, Slappin’ Glass is the creative effort of former collegiate teammates Dan Krikorian and Patrick Carney.

Meet Patrick Carney

Patrick Carney is a former professional basketball player and current coach residing in Germany. After a decorated collegiate career at Chapman University in Southern California, Patrick spent 12 seasons playing professionally in some of Germany’s top leagues, before retiring in 2018 to begin his coaching career. Patrick continues to coach at the professional and youth levels. If someone in Europe runs a “Hammer Set”, Patrick will find it and post about it within 24 hours.

Dan

Meet Dan Krikorian

Dan Krikorian is in his 9th season as the Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Chapman University, spending 4 seasons at the High School level as a JV and Varsity Head Coach before that. Along with coaching, Dan is also a professional musician, having released 6 critically acclaimed singer/songwriter albums since 2008, and is a Professor at Chapman University, where he teaches courses on Sports, Society, and Leadership. Dan has a habit of compiling large amounts of DHO actions and never doing anything about them.
