Slappin’ Glass sits down this week with the Head Coach of Towson University MBB, Pat Skerry! The trio have a great time diving into the areas of individual defense, playing off Stagger Screens, and talk sets for role players and building competitors during the always fun “Start, Sub, or Sit?!”

Inside the Episode

Towson MBB Head Coach, Pat Skerry, joined us on the podcast this week in what was a fun, entertaining, and insightful conversation. Coach Skerry has Towson off to an 8-2 start this season and we dove into his thoughts on:

  • Building Individual Defenders: We’d all love a team full of great players who can guard the ball 1v1, Coach Skerry details his thoughts on trying to build those types of defenders from day one. We discuss drills, mentality, and how individual traits lead to decisions on scheme.
  • Turnaround Seasons: Coach Skerry owns the record for leading the largest single season turnaround in his second season at Towson. After winning just one game his first season, Coach Skerry and Towson won 18 the following year and we dive into the ins and outs of that turnaround during “Start, Sub, or Sit?!”
  • Involving Role Players Offensively: During “Start, Sub, or Sit?!” we also discussed ways to involve bench or role players offensively. Coach Skerry shared his thoughts on set design to role clarification during this interesting segment.
