Inside the Episode

What a fun week we had on the podcast as we had the chance to sit down with South Dakota State MBB Head Coach, Eric Henderson! Fresh off a 30 win season and NCAA Tournament appearance, Coach Henderson was generous with his thoughts on some very specific and interesting topics including:

  • The Art and Science of High Efficiency Threes: SDSU finished #1 in the nation last year in Offensive 3PFG%, and we spent a lot of time digging into how Coach Henderson teaches his teams to find, shot, and make specific types of threes. We talked about paint touches, analytics, not running plays, a shooter’s mentality, player development, and much more.
  • Empowering Staff: Coach Henderson was terrific in speaking about how he views empowering staff members to create accountability, buy-in, and growth opportunities.
  • “Start, Sub, or Sit?!”: We went pretty deep during SSS on the pain points of “weaking” or “shading left”, as well bench rotations.
